Do you Realize?
The Flaming lips are an alternative rock band from Oklahoma. They have a unique, psychedelic sound. I have yet to see them live, but I heard they put on such an amazing, unforgettable performance.
Push & Pull
Nikka Costa's sound consists of funk, soul and blues. Such a wonderful fusion of music with an amazing voice. This is one of my favorite songs from her.
King Without a Crown
Matisyahu has such a wonderfully odd mix of sound. It is traditional Jewish themes with reggae, rock, hip hop and beat-boxing sounds all meshed together and it works! Trust me.
Through the Trees
Ryan Levine
Okay, so I heard this song while watching the movie Jennifer's Body. In the movie Adam Brody sings/lipsings (?) the song, but it is really done by Ryan Levine. The movie was okay, but I really like the song the most about the movie. Hubby likes Megan Fox...but who can blame him. She is hot.
I just don't think I'll get over you
Remember the band Men at Work. Well this is the singer in his solo career. His solo album "Going Somewhere" is beautiful.
Head On
I love the Pixies and I love the Jesus and Mary Chain. This is actually a Jesus and Mary Chain cover. This video gives you the best of both bands. There are so many great Pixies songs to choose from, but I love the video for this one.
Real Love
You may know Mike Doughty from Soul Coughing. Great band. I've seen them live when I lived in Portland. Here is one of my favorite songs from him. It's actually a cover, but I still love it.
The Tree People are an alternative rock band from Boise, ID. My husband turned me onto this band. I love Built to Spill. This is the band Doug was in prior to Built to Spill. One of the most underrated bands out there. Great music.
Pumped up Kicks
This song is blowing up everywhere It is so catchy, that it will instantly put you in a great mood.
Foster the People are from Los Angeles, CA.
If you run
I heard this song while watching "Going the Distance", a movie from Drew Barrymore. I really like this song. I bought the CD after watching this movie.
Make some Noise
The Beastie boys are a hip hop trio from New York City.
This video is so fun. So many Cameos. I first started listening to the Beastie Boys back in 1988 in high school in Cali. Several years later and they are still rockin. Now my boys are fans of the Beasties.
